Wrist Bend

Turn to the half swing position, it is vital that the correct half swing position is obtained before continuing.

The right wrist then bends on the back of the wrist hinging the club behind you. the club head should pivot from the right wrist over the right elbow minimising any roll of the arm.

If bent properly the butt of the club should go through a position where it pointed to the ball and at the top of the back swing the club face should be visible when checked in the mirror.

The position at the top of the back swing will vary depending on muscle tension, flexibility and practice.

To help find the feeling of this movement hold the club in your right hand and fling the club back allowing the momentum of the club head to move you into position.

The object of this exercise is to maintain the connection between the top of the arms and body but allows the wrists and club head to carry on their natural angle around the body.

It is vitally important that you allow the club to be hinged by the wrist not made to move.

The feeling of the body is as if it were a spring coiling from the feet upwards, the feet are the base and don’t move but everything else winds around them.
