James Andrews School of Golf

Golf academy in TV limelight

The James Andrews school of golf, based at Sedlescombe Golf Club, recently played host to one of the world's leading journalists.
Justin Armsden, producer of CNN's living golf programme, was sceptical about the merits of golf schools at first but was soon won over by the facilities Sedlescombe has to offer.
David Wicks, from the company's sales and marketing team, said: "He came down to us and was here for three days.
"He was really not convinced that golf schools were the greatest thing since sliced bread and basically was going to write a story relating to that, but when he left he had a totally different opinion.
"His actual words were this is a totally unique place. He is a man who has met all the stars of world golf and stayed in the best hotels, but he had never seen anything like this before."
Justin was so impressed he has promised another visit this summer, when he hopes the instructors will further improve his game.
The school will be featured in a month-long, eight-minute slot on CNN, which airs throughout April at 9.30pm on Monday nights.
The academy will also enjoy publicity from the London Golf Exhibition which runs from April 27-30, at the ExCel arena.
Mr Wicks is excited about the impact the publicity will have on the school and the region in general. He said: "I think this recognition will bring a lot into the Hastings area, not just the golf course.
"It will bring a lot of business into Hastings and Battle because people are going to go shopping around the towns."
Despite this success the school is keen to keep improving and has ambitious plans for the future. Led by founder, James Andrews, it boasts eight professional instructors who are equipped to help golfers of all standards.
Among facilities on offer, clients can enjoy a luxury hotel, 20-bay driving range and seven putting greens all within a state-of-the-art complex.
Mr Wicks said: "This is a special place. We get pros come here from places like Italy who just want to get better. At the moment we've got an American diplomat staying here, but we get people from all over the world.
"We're looking very much that this will be franchised nationally to start with and then overseas because the brand is so good."
